Maintenance Engineer – Rail Freight

📍 Field-Based | UK Rail Network

🕒 12-Day Rotating Shift Pattern | Full-Time - Permanent

Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer ready to take on a dynamic, field-based role in the rail freight sector? Join a team that keeps the UK’s freight wagons moving with precision, safety, and speed. As a Maintenance Engineer
, you’ll respond to call‑outs, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure wagons are safe, reliable, and ready for action.

• ✅ Diagnose and repair faults on freight wagons
• ✅ Respond to emergencies including derailments and brake issues
• ✅ Carry out inspections and scheduled maintenance
• ✅ Support technical operations during on‑call hours
• ✅ Collaborate with terminal staff and train operators

• 🔩 NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• 🚗 Full UK driving licence
• 🧠 Fault‑finding and repair experience
• 💬 Strong communication and IT skills
• 🕐 Willingness to work unsociable hours and travel

• 📘 HNC/HND or NVQ Level 4
• 🚆 Knowledge of brake systems, couplers, and running gear
• 🎓 PTS or equivalent site access certification

• 🛠️
  Full training (12–16 weeks), tools, and PPE provided.
• 👥 Work in a supportive team of two during on‑call shifts.
