We are currently looking for a Multi Trade Apprentice to join our award-winning apprenticeship scheme that could help you achieve your goals whilst also making a positive impact on other people's lives.

  • Starting rate: £8 per hour (£16,224 per annum)
  • Qualified rate: £16.91 per hour (£34,293 per annum)

You’ll also have opportunities to progress after your apprenticeship, through routes such as our Trainee Surveyor Programme and Trainee Contracts Manager Programme.

What’s the apprenticeship all about?

As an Apprentice at Ian Williams, you’ll learn on the job, gaining hands-on experience while studying ’ll be supported by experienced tradespeople, including your own dedicated mentor, and work towards mastering your chosen trade.

Responsibilities
  • Working on projects such as social housing and heritage buildings
  • Covering areas including (but not limited to):
    Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset
  • Locations may vary depending on contracts, and you may occasionally travel further afield. We will help with transport where possible
  • Depending on your home address, we will usually arrange a convenient collection point for you and a member of our team. This will be discussed during your interview
  • Being an apprentice Multi Trade Operative means that you won't specialise in one trade, rather you will work on jobs that come under a range of different trades to repair and maintain properties
  • Ripping out and preparing empty properties for new tenants
  • Planned and responsive repair work
  • You will gain an overview and basic understanding of multiple trades including carpentry, electrical, plastering and plumbing. You will not gain an apprenticeship in a single trade i.e. Carpentry but will become a qualified Multi Trade Operative instead.
  • Work both inside and outside in all weather
Development and Training
  • Attend college to understand the “how and why” of your trade (usually 1 day a week)
  • Work with our preferred provider, PFP Thrive Professional Training & Apprenticeship Providers - PFP Thrive. If you would prefer a local provider, this can be discussed during the application process as we hold a list of preferred suppliers
  • Build an awesome portfolio of evidence for your End Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Be a valued team member and contribute to our overall success
What you need to apply

No prior experience needed! Just bring:

  • A genuine passion for multiple trades and practical, hands-on work
  • A positive attitude and problem-solving mindset
  • Commitment to building your career at Ian Williams – we’re as committed to you as you are to us
  • Strong organisational skills (to juggle college and work)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) grade 3(E) or above in Maths and English
  • Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis (we are unfortunately unable to sponsor visas)
