We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to support our operations across the Birmingham area. This is a field-based role where you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing Volvo construction equipment at customer sites, ensuring we deliver a first-class experience to both internal and external customers.
You will combine strong technical expertise with a commercially focused mindset, identifying service opportunities while delivering efficient and high-quality repairs.
Key responsibilitiesYou will be responsible for delivering on-site service and maintenance, ensuring machinery is repaired efficiently and customer expectations are consistently met.
Service, maintain and repair Volvo construction and associated equipment
Diagnose faults using technical expertise and diagnostic tools, providing clear guidance to customers
Work in line with quotations and time guides, identifying additional work where required
Complete all reports, job cards and timesheets accurately in real time
Identify opportunities to promote additional services and aftermarket solutions
You will be a skilled and customer-focused engineer, comfortable working independently in a field-based role while maintaining high technical and safety standards.
Engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Plant, HGV or similar)
Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant or construction equipment
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
Full UK driving licence and ability to work flexibly, including overtime and call-outs
Experience with welding or fabrication
Advanced knowledge of hydraulics, electrics or emissions systems
