Role Description

The Service Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, supporting customers across the Midlands and occasionally further afield. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, servicing, and maintaining compressed air systems, performing scheduled and reactive maintenance, and conducting diagnostics to identify and resolve technical issues. The Service Engineer will complete service reports, maintain accurate records, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams about work carried out and any recommended actions. The position also requires adherence to health and safety standards, participation in an out-of-hours rota as needed, and collaboration with colleagues to deliver high-quality support.

Qualifications

  • Field service experience, including working on customer sites and managing time and priorities independently.
  • Solid technical support capabilities, with the ability to interpret technical documentation and use relevant tools and test equipment.
  • Proficiency in maintenance and repair of industrial or compressed air systems, or similar machinery.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders and build positive customer relationships.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering).
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel within the region.
  • Awareness of health and safety standards and best practices in industrial environments.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a focus on reliability, accountability, and continuous learning.
