Mobile Vehicle Technician – SMR Division

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair.

• A competitive base salary of £45,378 (inclusive of London Weighting Allowance, if applicable), with on‑target earnings up to £57,000.
• A guaranteed overtime option that increases your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
• 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.

You’ll be part of the Harlow cluster, covering areas such as Harlow, Bishop’s Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Waltham Abbey, Epping and Hoddesdon. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working a clearly planned schedule of appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work.

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.

• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. From day one you’ll have a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics.

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

• Earnings – market‑competitive base salary as listed and the opportunity to increase earnings up to £57,000 via bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. 40‑hour week with Monday–Saturday availability (8 am–8 pm).
• Guaranteed Overtime – opt‑in after first month to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day a month could earn £3,000 more per year; two extra days could give an extra £5,000.
