We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Financial Services Accountant. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, work independently with minimal supervision, and effectively manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines. This position requires strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to identify financial discrepancies, inconsistencies, and opportunities for process improvement.

Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, partner agencies, and external organizations while maintaining a solution-focused approach. Active participation in hunting, fishing, and/or boating is highly desirable.

• Accounts payable and accounts receivable administration
• Payroll processing and related reporting
• General ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
• Financial reporting and analysis
• Month-end and year-end accounting activities
• Compliance with state policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Audit preparation and maintenance of supporting documentation
• Resolution of financial discrepancies and accounting issues
• Providing guidance, training, and support to agency staff on accounting processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field with 2- years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, or a related financial discipline.
• Additional college coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a related field may substitute for the required experience.

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting standards, and governmental accounting practices.
• Experience using computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Access and/or People Soft is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and prepare accurate reports.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to maintain detailed financial records and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
• The ability to successfully complete any required background investigation and meet eligibility requirements for government employment.
