Position Summary
Intermountain Infrastructure Group (IIG) seeks a versatile and committed Network Infrastructure Manager to support the construction, commissioning, and long-term maintenance of our fiber optic infrastructure. This dynamic role begins with managing a team of hands-on field management technicians for operations and maintenance of the fiber optic system and shelter sites.
The manager will ensure that field operations align with the company's strategic goals, maintain quality standards, and adhere to regulatory requirements. The Manager will support communication between upper-management and on-ground crews, facilitating clear communication and efficient execution of tasks. The role demands a blend of leadership, strategic planning, and operational management skills to ensure seamless integration of field activities with the organization's broader objectives.
Responsibilities- Oversee field operations and locator teams across the designated territory
- Coordinate operational maintenance tasks with field teams for all shelter locations and POP facilities managed by IIG
- Review and track permits, contractor deliverables, and inspection reports
- Coordinate with project manager, construction contractors, and permitting consultants to resolve field issues and authorize changes
- Maintain and manage accurate field documentation and issue regular updates to internal stakeholders
- Support ongoing maintenance and emergency repairs for communications infrastructure, including fiber optic cables and network equipment
- Respond to outages, conduct site inspections, troubleshoot network issues, and coordinate timely resolutions
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance plans and safety procedures
- Generate technical reports, analyze system data, and contribute to operational improvements

- Education:
(Preferred) Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications or equivalent civil construction experience will be considered - 7+ years’ experience within the telecommunications industry
- Manager/Supervisor for 3+ years
- Salary is dependent on the education, skills, and experience of the candidate. This role pays between $100,000 – $125,000 per year, DOE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of fiber optic network construction, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of POP site equipment - DC pants, fiber panels, HVAC systems, alarming, ATS and supporting infrastructure
- Proficiency in using an OTDR and other standard telecom tools
- This position is 50% remote but 50% requires field visits within the entire ND region, which may involve travel, working in various weather conditions, and on construction sites
