Beaver Creek Archaeology (BCA) is seeking Full-Time Temporary/Seasonal Archaeological Construction Monitors for a long-term construction monitoring project in Fargo, North Dakota, for the remainder of the 2026 field season, with the project anticipated to resume during the 2027 field season.

BCA is a cultural resource management (CRM) consulting firm with offices in Bismarck, North Dakota, and Artesia, New Mexico. We conduct archaeological and cultural resource projects throughout the central and western United States, with a significant focus on the Great Plains.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide on-site archaeological monitoring during active construction activities. Monitors will observe ground-disturbing work, document construction activities and archaeological observations, identify potential cultural materials or features, and communicate with BCA supervisory staff and construction personnel as necessary.

This position provides an opportunity for individuals looking to gain substantial CRM and construction monitoring experience, as well as experienced archaeological technicians interested in a longer-duration field assignment.

This position is based out of BCA's Bismarck, North Dakota office; however, the primary assignment is a long-term construction project in Fargo, North Dakota.

The Fargo monitoring project is currently anticipated to continue through approximately mid-December 2026, depending on the construction schedule, weather, and project needs. Construction and associated archaeological monitoring are anticipated to resume in Spring 2027, providing the potential for returning employees to continue with the project during the 2027 field season.

Work hours and daily schedules will be based primarily on the construction crews' schedules and project needs rather than BCA's standard office hours. Applicants should be prepared for extended workdays, early start times, schedule changes, and overtime as construction activities require. Overtime should be expected. Overtime is paid at time and one-half for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with education, archaeological experience, monitoring experience, and other relevant qualifications.

• Lodging:
  Single-occupancy hotel accommodations while employees are assigned to the project.
• Transportation: A BCA field vehicle for project-related transportation.
• Subsistence: A $60 subsistence allotment per workday in accordance with BCA's current policies.
• Overtime:
  Time and one-half for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Successful employees may also have opportunities to assist with other BCA archaeological projects and/or transition into longer-term or permanent employment based on performance, interest, availability, and BCA's staffing and project needs.

• Construction Monitoring:
  Observe ground-disturbing construction activities within designated monitoring areas for archaeological materials, features, deposits, or other cultural resources.
• Documentation:
  Maintain accurate daily monitoring records and document construction activities, observations, discoveries, photographs, locations, and other required project information.
• Resource Identification:
  Recognize potential archaeological materials, features, deposits, or other areas of concern and follow established project procedures when potential cultural resources are encountered.
