Meal Assistant Butler Center for Early Learning (CEL)
The University of Mary is seeking a full or part-time person to serve meals and perform general staff support at the Butler Center for Early Learning. The Butler Center for Early Learning (CEL) is a licensed childcare and preschool in downtown Bismarck. Learn more about the center here.
The Meal Assistant/Support Staff is responsible for preparing and serving meals to children in a safe, sanitary, and nurturing environment. In addition to food service duties, this position assists with supervising children during mealtimes and may provide support in classrooms or on the playground as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, attentive, and enjoys both cleaning and working with young children.
General hours for this position are Monday – Friday, from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm.
Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles andResponsibilities Include:
- Portion food to children in an age-appropriate and safe manner, ensuring proper food handling practices are followed
- Supervise children during meals and assist as needed
- Clean and sanitize dishes and lunchroom after lunch
- Assist with supervising classrooms or playground as needed
Minimum Qualifications , Education, and Experience Include:
- Basic Child Care training as approved through the North Dakota Growing Futures Professional Development Registry and current pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid certification
- Must be at least 16 years of age. Must meet the minimum qualifications of a staff member under childcare licensing rules, including passing a background check.
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality inthe Butler Center for Early Learning and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of safe food handling procedures
- Ability to follow health, safety, and childcare licensing rules
- Ability to patiently work with young children
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents and coworkers
- Strong attention to cleanliness and safety
