As part of OMB's Communications team, you'll create content that informs and inspires. This hands-on internship lets you build your portfolio and gain real-world experience in writing, digital media and design while learning how strategic communication supports public service.
You'll also have opportunities for professional development and networking, connecting with communicators from across state agencies through the Statewide Communications Network, all while enjoying a work schedule that fits your classes.
What You'll Do
You'll help bring the work of OMB to life by:
* Writing and editing content for digital and print platforms, including newsletters, brochures, reports and social media.
* Creating and editing videos and photos that highlight key initiatives and events.
* Designing engaging visual materials such as flyers, social media graphics and other documents.
* Contributing to multimedia storytelling projects that combine visuals, video and written content.
* Developing, scheduling and managing social media content across multiple platforms.
* Updating website and intranet pages to keep content accurate, accessible and on-brand.
* Supporting special projects and the Statewide Communications Network.
* Creating and reviewing visual materials and documents to ensure they meet accessibility (ADA) guidelines (training provided).
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who's creative, detail-oriented and ready to learn. To be considered, you must:
* Be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university with sophomore standing or higher.
* Be pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design or a related field.
* Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or higher.
* Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a sharp eye for detail.
* Positive attitude, adaptable mindset and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
* Collaborative spirit and appreciation for teamwork.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with social media platforms.
Bonus Points If You
* Experience with writing, editing and storytelling across multiple channels.
* Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Premiere Pro). Website Content Management Systems and Email Distribution Software.
* Understand branding and accessibility (ADA) best practices for digital content.
