Kindergarten Teacher - Grimsrud Elementary

Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for a Kindergarten Teacher at Grimsrud Elementary School beginning the 2026‑2027 School Year.

This position will start August 14th, 2026. New Teacher Orientation will be held August 11th, 12th and 13th.

A teaching contract is 187 days. External candidates may bring up to 17 years of contracted K‑12 teaching experience.

• A valid ND teaching certificate
• Bachelor's degree
• Kindergarten Credential

This posting is for internal and external teaching applicants (including current BPS employees in support staff, temporary or substitute positions). Current contracted part‑time BPS teachers seeking a full‑time position should also complete the external application.

Applicants for teaching positions will be asked to complete the EPI Candidate Assessment. You will receive an email prompting you to complete this survey. The assessment takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and only needs to be completed once; it will then be marked complete on all applications.

To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for physical, intellectual, and social‑emotional growth and maturation.

• Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
• Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children.
• Develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
• Supervises students in a variety of school‑related settings.
• Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Creates daily lesson plans that are complete enough for a substitute teacher to take over the class if necessary.

• Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the immediate supervisor.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom and on the campus in a fair and just manner.
• Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
• Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other staff members.
• Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning complying with Bismarck Public Schools’ professional growth program.
