Full-Time, special non-tenure track position. Competitive salary based on directly related experience and education.

9 months: $45,500 - $56,875

Position Details

Bismarck State College is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teaching Professor in Instrumentation and Controls to be the bridge between industry theory and real-world application, mentoring the next wave of technicians who keep the lights on and the plants running.

Key Responsibilities:

* Curriculum Instruction:
Illuminate the minds of students with engaging lessons in instrumentation and control, hands-on skills, and safety practices. Conduct classes in our well-equipped lab and online.

* Curriculum Upgrades:
Keep our programs buzzing by updating and enhancing course materials to ensure we're always current with industry standards.

* Student Mentoring:
Serve as a guiding light for students, offering support and encouragement as they navigate their educational journey.

* Committee Work:
Participate in advisory committees to help shape our programs and keep them grounded in industry needs.

* Marketing Programs:
Promote our courses and workshops to attract new students and keep our programs energized.

* Grading:
Submit grades by established deadlines to ensure students receive timely feedback-because their success is our top priority!

* Additional Duties:
Collaborate with the Assistant Dean and/or Dean of AEAT on various tasks that help us power through each academic year.

Minimum Requirements:

* Associate degree or higher in an appropriate field, or certificate, and a minimum of five years of active employment within the instrumentation and control field, or no degree and 10 years or more years of non-teaching work-related experience.

* Excellent working knowledge of basic electricity, electronics, instrumentation calibration, control loops, PID loop tuning, control systems, and PLC programming.

* Strong knowledge of valves, actuators, pumps, P&IDs, motors, and variable frequency drives.

* General knowledge of the controls used in fossil-fueled power plants and/or process plants, including refineries, ethanol plants, gasification plants, petrochemical plants, manufacturing facilities, and related processing facilities.

* Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office, email, PowerPoint, and electronic calendar (Outlook).

* Excellent written communication skills.

* Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and to articulate and support the community college philosophy

* Will be required to obtain the North Dakota State Board for Career and Technical Education certification (up to six years to obtain, and training is provided). This requires a combination of education and work experience. For more information on CTE certification: http://.

* Extensive experience in instrumentation, control, and electrical/electronic fields

* Curriculum development, teaching, and/or training experience
