Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for an Instructional Aide II at Wachter Middle School beginning the 2026‑2027 School Year. The role involves providing complex support processes to the instructional program within and outside the assigned classroom, assisting and designing daily care of students with significant learning challenges, observing and documenting student academic and emotional progress, implementing instructional plans, making recommendations for improved care and instruction, and addressing the special health care needs of assigned students.
EssentialFunctions
- Administer first aid and medical assistance, including self‑care plans, toiletries, tube feeding, etc.
- Provide physical care and assistance for students with severe physical disabilities, including lifting and securing mobility aids.
- Support instructional activities by collaborating with teachers and special education teams to adapt, modify, and implement activities, assignments, and materials.
- Attend training and meetings, such as first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
- Communicate with staff to evaluate academic progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Implement behavior management plans (BIP), learning contracts, reinforcement systems, and crisis intervention strategies.
- Maintain records, organize files, and ensure compliance with mandated requirements.
- Monitor students during lunch, bus stops, playground, classroom, field trips, public transportation, assemblies, and kitchen activities to ensure safety.
- Operate instructional equipment and assistive technology to support student learning and communication.
- Review student learning by assisting teachers with classroom lessons and individual attention.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures.
- Maintain prompt and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom and school operations.
– Minimum Qualifications
- Perform multiple tasks and update skills to meet changing job conditions.
- Adhere to safety practices, operate standard office equipment, use software applications, and maintain accurate records.
- Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Ability to read manuals, write documents, present information, and solve practical problems.
- Understanding of instructional procedures, age‑appropriate student activities, safety practices, conflict resolution, and stages of child development and behavior.
- Schedule activities, gather and classify data, consider various factors when using equipment.
- Work flexibly with others, manage data using defined processes, and operate equipment using standardized methods.
- Adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, maintain confidentiality, solve problems, and handle crisis situations.
- Work effectively as part of a team and manage constant interruptions.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional certification or education may be required for specific aide positions.
- Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance required.
