The Youth Development Center Teacher provides care and early childhood education for infant, toddler or preschool children, ages 0-5, in a licensed childcare & preschool center environment.
- Be a role model.
- Develop and lead implementation of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans appropriate for age group.
- Supervise the children, classroom, and Teaching Assistants assigned to the classroom.
- Assure child safety by understanding and following safety and security procedures.
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Conduct student assessments and parent-teacher conferences.
- Help assure a clean and well-organized classroom and equipment.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to unexpected situations and emergencies.
- Attend and be an active participant at staff meetings.
Full Time Shifts Available, Monday-Friday:
- 7:00 am-4:00 pm
- 7:30 am-4:00 pm

QualificationsWe are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Requires a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification or the ability to obtain certification within a specified time-frame. The YMCA offers a CDA Certification training program, including financial assistance. A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or a related field preferred.
Previous experience working in an early childhood setting preferred. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with parents regarding the child's activities, behavior, eating, etc. CPR & First Aid Certification and Child Abuse prevention training courses must be completed within 90 days of hire and are provided by the YMCA.
