The project involves multiple structure types, wire types, multiple laydown yards, and dedicated assembly areas.

The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating material receipt, storage, tracking, staging, and delivery to ensure uninterrupted field execution. This role works closely with Construction Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Quality Coordinators to ensure materials are available, compliant, traceable, and aligned with construction sequencing, while adhering to Company Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems.

This role does not own procurement strategy, purchasing authority, or commercial negotiations, which remain the responsibility of the Materials Manager and Procurement teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate receipt, handling, storage, and distribution of project materials across multiple laydown yards and assembly areas
  • Support material staging and sequencing to align with construction schedules, crew needs, and structure installation plans
  • Coordinate delivery of materials to active work fronts in collaboration with Construction Coordinators and field supervision
  • Monitor material availability and proactively identify shortages, misallocations, or delivery conflicts that may impact execution

  • Track material movement between laydown yards, assembly areas, and work fronts using approved systems and logs
  • Support material traceability requirements, including heat numbers, batch tracking, certifications, and compliance documentation, as required by Contract and Quality standards
  • Coordinate with the Quality Coordinator to ensure material documentation supports inspection, acceptance, and turnover requirements

DELIVERY, LOGISTICS & VENDOR INTERFACE

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordination of material deliveries in alignment with procurement and construction plans
  • Coordinate with logistics providers, approved vendors, and internal SCM teams to support timely delivery and proper material handling
  • Maintain effective working relationships with vendors to resolve delivery, packaging, or documentation issues
  • Support vendor-managed inventory processes where applicable, without assuming procurement authority

SYSTEMS, REPORTING & COORDINATION

  • Utilize approved SCM, inventory, and project systems to track material status, quantities, and delivery milestones
  • Provide accurate material status updates to the Materials Manager and Project Coordination team
  • Support material-related inputs to project reporting, look-ahead planning, and schedule updates
  • Ensure all material activities align with the purchasing strategy and procurement plan established by the Materials Manager

COMPLIANCE, PROCEDURES & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Ensure material handling, storage, and documentation comply with Company standards, Contract requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Maintain project-specific logs for specialty tools, equipment, and material certifications as required
  • Promote adherence to SCM procedures and educate project teams on material request, handling, and documentation protocols
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in material flow, yard organization, storage efficiency, and coordination practices
