Position SummaryYou will provide electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team. The role is to manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil, gas, and chemical projects.
Responsibilities- Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil/gas/chemical projects, including international resources provided by work-share offices.
- Plan, organize, and direct engineering work, ensuring on‑time completion, safety‑in‑design and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with project management, client, and other disciplines to meet project objectives.
- May lead one or more projects while providing guidance for other lead engineers within the program.
- Maintain relationship with project management and client to ensure satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project.
- Communicate effectively (written, email, verbal) with the team and with management, demonstrating strong leadership, problem‑solving, and team‑motivation skills.
- Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Initiate, manage and if required supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
- Perform electrical engineering services such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities, e.g., write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations, and write purchase orders.
- If required, act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.
- When responsible for a team:
- Outline project requirements, promote work-share where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress.
- Ensure the required services meet Worley, its customers, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its Customer's requirements.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
- Assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when required.
- Excellent technical and practical engineering skills with a proven track record of delivering quality, accurate, and timely work.
- Deep knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering requirements and basic requirements of other engineering disciplines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Proficiency in relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software, including ETAP, PSCAD, and SPL.
- Experience in development and design of electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, power management system configuration, and interface management.
- Ability to perform and review power systems studies and protective device settings.
- Extensive technical and practical experience in the oil and gas industry, including work on multidisciplinary projects and teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- 8+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Physical presence required in Bismarck, ND or Billings, Montana office, with site visits to obtain project information.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and IEEE Standards.
- Professional Engineer (PE) status in the US or Canada is preferred or willingness to become licensed within 2 years.
Required: A recognized and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
Preferred: Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, supervisory qualifications, or equivalent.
