Position Summary: This entry‑level position will assist in designing civil engineering projects focusing on rural/regional systems and municipal water systems. This position focuses on potable water projects. Project work will involve pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage, municipal or regional water supply systems, and hydraulic modeling.

ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Develop plans and specifications for water projects.
- Focus on pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage tanks, municipal or regional water supply systems, pump stations, and hydraulic modeling.
- Perform environmental studies and write technical reports.
- Assist with proposal preparations and fee development.
- Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and in‑house water distribution design model to design and analyze projects.
- Interact with vendors in selection of equipment (pumps, pipe materials, valves, treatment equipment, storage tanks, SCADA systems, and metering equipment).
- Perform evaluations of sites, alternate solutions, costs and other considerations for client needs.
- Manage engineering work and interface with other disciplines as needed.
- Handle multiple projects for multiple clients simultaneously.
- Visit clients and job sites as needed to support project(s) and business development needs, including evening meetings.
- Serve as consultant on projects during construction phase.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent listening and reading skills, including proofreading
- Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or daily as changes occur in project needs
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills
- Knowledge of pipeline distribution systems, elevated/ground storage tanks, municipal and regional water supply systems, irrigation and water diversion systems, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and/or water collection systems

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain amount of detail
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, Water/Sewer GEMS, Info Water, ArcGIS and water modeling software
- Ability to embrace new technology and processes including learning other software programs as needed (Adobe, Bluebeam, Deltek Vision accounting and project planning software, Client Relationship Management software, etc.)
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
- Good time management skills with ability to handle complex, deadline‑driven workloads
- Ability to work independently and within a team successfully
Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field required.
Experience:
0-3 years engineering experience in potable water systems. Knowledge/experience of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and water modeling software strongly preferred.
Travel Expectations:
Must be able to travel in‑state and out‑of‑state on occasion, which usually would consist of visiting other office locations, project sites, attending seminars or business meetings. Travel is 10% – 20% of the time depending on projects. Driver’s license with clean driving record required.
