BAS Programmer
Location:
Bismarck, ND
Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 per year
OverviewWe’re growing our Building Automation team in the Bismarck, North Dakota market and are looking for a BAS Programmer who enjoys being hands‑on with systems in the field while still having the ability to support projects from the office. This role sits at the center of our project execution—working closely with Project Managers, engineers, and field teams to bring building systems to life.
If you enjoy turning sequences into working systems, integrating complex equipment, and seeing your work operate in real buildings, this is a strong fit.
- Program, configure, and commission BAS/DDC systems based on project sequences and contract documents
- Build out system graphics and user interfaces that give end users clear visibility into their building systems
- Integrate third‑party equipment and systems using BACnet, Modbus, LON, and other protocols (chillers, boilers, VFDs, RTUs, VRF systems, generators, FAS, etc.)
- Support projects through startup, commissioning, and turnover—both remotely and onsite
- Work directly with Project Managers, engineers, and customers to ensure systems are delivered as designed
- Participate in jobsite walkthroughs, commissioning activities, and customer demonstrations/training
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during installation and startup phases
- Maintain organized project documentation, including backups, as‑builts, and closeout materials
- Provide updates on project progress and support overall project delivery timelines and goals
- 5+ years of experience programming and commissioning commercial BAS/DDC systems
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls strategies, and building operations
- Experience integrating with third‑party equipment and open protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LON)
- Familiarity with platforms such as Tridium Niagara (N4/AX), Schneider Eco Struxure, or similar systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Comfortable working both in the field and in an office environment
- Solid networking knowledge as it relates to BAS systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams and with customers
This isn’t a desk‑only programming role. You’ll split your time between building out systems, supporting active construction sites, and working through real‑world challenges alongside field teams. Some days you’re dialing in graphics or sequences; other days you’re onsite bringing a system online or working through commissioning with the customer.
