The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to support the planning, design, and delivery of bridge projects. The role involves detailed drafting, collaboration with engineers, and ensuring compliance with NDDOT standards.
Job Duties- Use computer-aided drafting software to detail all components of structures, producing complete construction plans.
- Read and interpret the designer’s calculations and sketches, drafting them into engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering professionals and participate in project meetings.
- Ensure all plans comply with NDDOT standards, project specifications, and drafting procedures.
- Organize and maintain project files, drawing sets, and digital documentation.
- Support the preparation of quantity calculations.
- Participate in quality reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency of deliverables.
- Engineering Technician IV: $5,587 per month*
- Engineering Technician III: $5,008 per month*
- Engineering Technician II: $4,505 per month*
- Engineering Technician I: $4,131 per month*
* Salary is dependent on experience.
Minimum Qualifications- Engineering Technician IV: 6+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Engineering Technician III: 4+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Engineering Technician II: 2+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Engineering Technician I:
High school diploma or GED required, with basic understanding of job-related concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and on uneven/slippery surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license.
- Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities may substitute for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Associate’s degree or technical training in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with Bentley Open Roads Designer, Open Bridge Modeler, Microstation, or similar design software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
