Each and every role throughout our organization makes a difference in our ability to change the world for the better. This role focuses on trenchless geotechnical initiatives within the Trenchless Services Engineering Team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and orchestrate geologic and geotechnical initiatives associated with trenchless technologies: engineering, design and construction applications.
  • Apply geologic information to applicable engineering and design practices; lead, coordinate and execute geotechnical exploration campaigns; evaluate subsurface conditions for feasibility of design and construction; determine recommendations for solutions to geologic conditions; integrate geotechnical data into project deliverables.
  • Plan, manage and execute geotechnical investigations for trenchless projects, including field work, directing subcontracted drilling crews, soil/rock logging and testing, data collection, laboratory coordination, data analysis and reporting.
  • Lead and generate geotechnical data and engineering reports; represent HDR’s Trenchless Services team in client meetings and site visits as required.
  • Support geotechnical data management using Open Ground and/or gINT; generate deliverables such as boring logs and cross sections for design drawings.
  • Perform data management and quality control of geological data; assist in geotechnical analyses of subsurface conditions and interpret impacts to trenchless projects.
  • Incorporate geological/geotechnical data into critical determinations during design and construction; create geological cross sections for HFIAs and design reports.
  • Advance software capabilities (gINT, Open Ground, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD Civil 3D) to generate trenchless deliverables.
  • Support other HDR business groups; assist across regions and areas as needed; monitor field activities, interface with contractors and clients, and report results.
  • Travel as necessary to perform field work, including site reconnaissance, geotechnical field logging, sampling, and trenchless construction oversight and inspection.
  • Lead and manage workload, delegate responsibilities, and supervise geologists/geotechnical professionals; conduct mentoring and performance reviews; plan resources, schedule, and risk management for geotechnical initiatives.
What You Will Do Day-to-Day

The Trenchless Geotechnical Team Lead will report to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead and oversee planning, management and coordination of geotechnical projects for trenchless technologies.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills; ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills; team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Active commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Open Ground software
  • Experience leading and managing direct reports
  • Experience managing subconsultants
  • Four-year degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related field
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, gINT, ArcGIS, AutoCAD
  • Strong writing skills; travel flexibility
  • PE and/or PG credentials
  • Knowledge of ASTM standards for geotechnical concepts and subsurface material classification

Compensation and location details are provided in the job posting. Primary location:
United States-Nebraska-Omaha;
Other locations include multiple U.S. sites.
