Travel:
Required throughout Western North Dakota (based at Bismarck, Minot, Williston, or Dickinson).

• Rapidly respond to workplace injuries and incidents.
• Analyze/investigate and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence of similar events.
• Ensure proper reports are completed in a timely manner and appropriate parties are notified.
• Monitor employee work activities to ensure safe work practices in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
• Perform inspections of equipment, buildings, yards, and road right of way.
• Operate technical equipment to determine if work sites and conditions are safe for employees.
• Utilize testing equipment detectors to monitor and ensure exposure limits are not exceeded.
• Evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use and maintenance.
• Assist in development and conduct and review safety and health‑related training programs.
• Review reports submitted on vehicle incidents, crashes, employee personal injuries and worker’s comp claims.
• Responsible for safety related communications, respond to questions.
• Perform ergonomic work task and station assessments, incident investigations and safety inspections.
• Assist with pre‑employment physicals and drug testing as well as return to work recommendations.
• Be a subject matter expert and provide training for workzone traffic control.

• Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional work experience as an occupational safety professional, OR
• Five years of professional work experience as a safety professional performing duties closely related to those listed, OR
• Five years of experience in the highway transportation field.
• ND Class D driver’s license.

• Public speaking experience
• Safety training experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Extensive Highway maintenance and/or construction experience
