We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering service delivery across a complex portfolio of oil, gas, and chemical projects. Operating out of either our Billings, Montana or Bismarck, North Dakota locations, this role provides technical leadership, strategic oversight, and direct supervision within the electrical engineering discipline. The successful candidate will guide technical execution, manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers, and ensure high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes that adhere strictly to industry safety standards and regulatory specifications.
CoreResponsibilities
- Execute advanced electrical engineering services, maintaining accountability for scope, quality, budget, and schedule compliance across assigned projects.
- Lead, direct, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers and designers, assigning project tasks and managing workflow productivity.
- Direct the planning, development, and design of low- to medium-voltage (LV/MV) electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, and power management system configurations.
- Conduct and review technical power systems studies, protective device settings, and interface management procedures.
- Manage interface relationships with project management, interdisciplinary leads, and client representatives to ensure alignment with operational goals and quality standards.
- Oversee technical procurement and construction support, including drafting requisitions, conducting technical bid evaluations, and reviewing purchase orders.
- Drive project change management processes, ensuring technical scope modifications are fully vetted and documented.
- Maintain comprehensive compliance with applicable local, national, and international standards, alongside statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 8 to 15+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience within the oil, gas, refinery, or chemical sectors.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated background in power systems engineering, electrical system design, protection schemes, and installation within hazardous refinery environments.
- Software Proficiency: Proven technical proficiency with ETAP, PSCAD, and SPL engineering software suites, alongside standard corporate applications.
- Work Authorization: Open to qualified candidates, including TN Visa eligible candidates from Canada.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications or formal certifications in engineering management or project management.
- Advanced expertise in supervisory leadership and cross-functional discipline integration.
- Position Type: Contract (Long-term with potential for direct conversion based on performance and operational needs).
- Work Location: 100% On-site. Candidate may choose between:
- Bismarck, ND
- Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule (80 hours over 9 days, with every other Friday off).
