Lighthouse Commodities, LLC is seeking an established Director of Commodity Accounting to fill a new role.
This role will be responsible for accurately recording, reconciling, and reporting financial transactions and data. This role requires a strong understanding of both GAAP and agricultural commodities accounting.
- Lead month end and year end close procedures
- Lead daily and weekly commodity P&L review processes
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses related to commodity activity.
- Maintain active grain buyer licenses across all operating states. This includes tracking and managing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements, coordinate bonding renewals, riders, and bond level adjustments and leading state grain audits with preparation of necessary schedules and gathering requested documentation.
- Provide support for the annual independent financial audits of the company. This involves activities such as the preparation of necessary schedules and gathering requested documentation.
- Assessing current accounting and internal control processes, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing new processes.
- Prepare and review other required tax filings and regulatory reports
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and agricultural commodity accounting
- Understanding of grain licensing, bonding, and regulation
- Experience leading financial close and audit processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Remarkable attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently, in a high stress environment and effectively manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously
Work schedule will primarily be normal daytime business hours, Monday through Friday, with additional hours required as needed.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance or related field
- Proven commodity accounting experience, including strong knowledge of mark-to-market valuation and hedging transactions.
- 5 plus years of work experience in a similar position
