- 8‑hour day shifts starting at 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m.
- Every 3rd weekend rotation and rotating holidays
- Duties include specimen processing and send‑outs
Provide technical assistance in the laboratories. Perform laboratory duties to assist technologists, technicians, pathologists’ assistants, and/or pathologists. Handle related equipment—including maintenance—clean work area and stock supplies. As needed, assist in reference lab work, including packaging, mailing, tracking, and report filing. Expected to train and onboard new employees.
Pathology Technicians within the Histology/Gross Laboratory assist in obtaining biological samples for study and prepare tissues for processing and examination under the direction and supervision of pathologists. May perform complex histological procedures such as grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining to produce tissue slides used for diagnosis.
Within the Clinical Laboratory setting, responsibilities include collecting, preparing, and processing specimens; assisting in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks; aiding in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies; possibly entering laboratory orders and results. Ensure the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment. May be required to perform waived tests and/or phlebotomy.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in biology or another related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry.
