Travel RN - Med​/Surg Float Pool

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and a ND or Compact RN license.

Job Details

• Acute care hospital setting with 61 combined Med/Surg beds,

• Float pool position covering Medical-Surgical units,

• Patient population includes surgical patients (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, diabetic complications),

• Day shift ratio is 1:5; night shift ratio is 1:6; nursing aide ratio is 1:15,

• Telemetry is present on the unit - a monitor tech reads strips and the RN confirms,

• RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen,

• Charting is done in Epic,

• 12-hour night shifts,

• Every other weekend required,

• Every other holiday required,

• Call/standby requirement exists with charge LCD,

• Travelers are first to float,

Job Requirements

• Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted,

• Current BLS certification required; pending certifications will not be accepted,

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required,

• Experience with Epic EMR,

• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,

• Copy of driver's license required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of a travel CBO session and a unit-specific float checklist (12 orientation hours total),

• Any scrub color is acceptable,

• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered,
