overview

This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year round.

Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible to safely operate screed to place bituminous asphalt mix to proper depth, width and smoothness per contract specifications. Will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members.
  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving.
  • Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed.
  • Heat screed at beginning of operation.
  • Observe distribution of paving material along screed and control direction of laying.
  • Clean screed at end of shift.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written). Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum requirements
  • Ability to hold and maintain a driver's license in accordance with all state regulations.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
