Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the U.S. and Canada. Job Summary

As a valued member of the waterfowl programs team, this position will strive to expand awareness of Delta Waterfowl within rural communities of the US PPR, build positive relationships with rural landowners, and assist with delivery of duck production programming. Relationship building tools will include landowner outreach, technical support on conservation programs, and connection of landowners to delivery partners that conserve waterfowl habitat.

Position will serve as Delta Waterfowl’s expert on conservation and hunting access programming available through state, federal, and NGO partners in the US PPR.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with development of a plan and annual budget for landowner outreach program.
  • Utilize program target areas and “thunderstorm” maps to focus outreach work and communications efforts in important waterfowl breeding areas, especially those with potential for expansion of Delta’s programs.
  • Investigate, and build database of, available extension programs focused on waterfowl habitat, wetland conservation, hunter access, and wildlife-friendly agricultural practices.
  • Establish network/contact list of partners that deliver conservation programs in each district, county, state, or other relevant jurisdiction.
  • Expand awareness and delivery of Migratory Bird Habitat Initiative wetland conservation in the US PPR.
  • Represent Delta and our landowner outreach program at farm/ranch/agriculture meetings, workshops, expos, and gatherings.
  • Provide technical assistance to landowners on applicable conservation programs and connect them with funding/delivery entities and agencies.
  • Work with delivery partners to track outcomes of landowner outreach program, including number of landowners that ultimately enroll in programs.
  • Participate in meetings with state and federal agencies, conservation districts, and non-profit organizations to improve waterfowl habitat programs.
  • Work with Delta’s marketing and communication team to advertise and promote landowner outreach and duck production programs.
  • Respond to questions from producers, partners, and the public via email, phone, social media, and in-person outreach.
  • Assist with development, delivery, and analysis of landowner surveys that improve understanding of landowner opinions regarding Delta programs and other conservation work.
  • Assist with landowner communications needed as part of Predator Management, Hen House and research delivery in the U.S. PPR.
  • Support research and demonstration projects related to duck production and waterfowl habitat programs.
  • Assist with recruitment of contractors responsible for delivery of Delta’s Duck Production programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a wildlife-related field, or in an agricultural field with wildlife experience, or a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with coworkers, agricultural producers, landowners, and diverse stakeholder groups.
