The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long‑term care. The NA provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital‑sign monitoring, assisting with meals, transferring and repositioning residents, and supporting rehabilitation and recreational programs.
The NA must document resident interactions, communicate changes in condition to nursing staff, and maintain proper infection prevention and control practices.
- High school graduate or GED (preferred, not required)
- Minimum age 16
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or enrollment in a state‑approved program within four months of hire
- Annual 12‑hour continuing education requirement and maintenance of all required certifications
- Physically able to assist with resident transfers and daily living tasks
- When applicable, UAP registration and valid driver’s license may be required for certain duties
