Job Description
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Travel Nurse RN – Labor and Delivery assignment in Bismarck, North Dakota. This is a 13‑week travel position with a 12‑hour night shift and a 36‑hour work week.

- One year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC)
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting. The role encompasses assessing maternal and fetal health, administering treatments, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.
Essential Work Functions- Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
- Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients.
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence‑based protocols.
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
- Perform other duties within the scope of labor and delivery nursing as assigned.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions and basic PC skills.
- Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel and present a positive attitude.
- Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, move during procedures, and use equipment.
- Mental requirements: cope with frequent patient contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, maintain concentration during irregular schedules.
