• Ensure the health, comfort and safety of patients.
• Document a thorough medical history from patients.
• Contribute to patient assessment and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
• Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
• Counsel patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
• Demonstrate competency within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilize appropriate age and population specific standards in the assigned clinical setting.

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• For IV therapy/management skills, possess either a graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing (if in North Dakota).
• Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
• Obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
