Hours:
32.00 - Salary Range: $31.00 - $49.50
- Work collaboratively with infection prevention and control staff under leadership to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Infection Prevention program.
- Evaluate infection control trends and practices; provide educational programs for employees.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of microbiology and epidemiology.
- Surveil health care–associated infections and reportable illnesses; evaluate and report statistical information.
- Consult on asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission, and related issues.
- Monitor compliance standards and regulations, and contribute to strategy and evidence-based practices.
- Evaluate and improve performance of patient/resident outcomes.
- Assist with research needs and special projects as assigned.
- Learn and use computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis.
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to seek new information and knowledge.
- Think critically and problem solve effectively.
- Collaborate with wound consultant weekly; assist with quality programs; may assist on the floor as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, related clinical field, or a graduate from an approved Master of Public Health program (preferred).
- If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (preferred): CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
- Two years of experience in a healthcare field required.
- If working in an Acute setting, CIC certification (CBIC) is required. If not obtained at hire, a full-time employee must sit for the exam within 36 months (part-time within 48 months). A 12-month extension is allowed from the date of the first exam; an action plan may be devised if certification is not obtained after 12 months.
- If working in a Post-Acute setting, completion of an approved Infection Prevention course by the CDC is required.
- If a licensed RN, holds an unencumbered RN license in the state of practice or multistate licensure if in an NLC state.
