* Position Summary:

*
* This role is responsible for providing courteous customer service in person or by telephone; answers incoming calls to the retail store and directs incoming calls to the appropriate department and assist with guest questions in store  Also responsible for operating cash register and/or assisting guests with self checkouts

** Here's what you'll do:*
* + Provide courteous guest service in person or by telephone; answer incoming calls to the retail store and direct calls to the appropriate department and assist with guest questions in store

+ Perform/process guest services transactions such as credits, over rings, refunds, lottery ticket sales, money orders/transfers  Western Union , media related purchases, etc  in accordance with Company policies

+ Operate cash register to itemize customer purchases and assist guests with self checkouts; handles a variety of products which may include dry groceries, frozen foods, dairy products, produce, poultry, fish, beef and pork products

+ Process financial transactions including, but not limited to; cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons; and bag customer purchases

+ Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations

+ Understand use of check stand equipment  register, self checkouts  and its efficient operation

+ Comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling  i e , damaged/spoiled products , the sale of alcohol and tobacco products, etc

+ Communicate the Company programs  i e , loyalty program, scans, etc  , in store specials and coupons to customers, and models high standards of service to achieve a customer oriented store

+ Maintain a clean and well stocked department; ensure the department complies with Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards

+ Notify the department lead or manager of any issues with pricing, cash registers, etc

+ Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines

+ Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations

+ Follow Guest Experience Guidelines

+ May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need

+ Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed

** Here's what you'll need:*
* + High school diploma or GED  required

+ One year of prior retail or related experience preferred

+ Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers

+ Good customer service and organizational skills; detail oriented  Good reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
