Service and Repair Technician

This role focuses on servicing and repairing a wide range of beverage and restaurant equipment, including frozen drink machines, fountain beverage systems, ice makers, juice dispensers, and related equipment across a large regional territory. You will work independently in the field, traveling from your home to customer sites, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs while representing the company professionally. The position provides a company vehicle, uniforms, tools, a cell phone, and a gas card, and requires strong mechanical aptitude, field service experience, and clear communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Receive dispatched service calls as assigned and respond promptly based on the estimated time of arrival.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on beverage and restaurant equipment, including inspection, cleaning, and adjustment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration-related issues on equipment such as frozen drink machines, non-carbonated dispensers, fountain beverage systems, ice makers, juice dispensers, and similar units.
  • Complete necessary repairs, part replacements, and adjustments to restore equipment to proper working condition.
  • Check the quality of all products dispensed by equipment, including verifying syrup levels, changing out flavors, and cleaning around machines to maintain cleanliness and performance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, and ensure proper care and maintenance of the assigned service vehicle.
  • Document all work performed, including diagnostics, parts used, and repairs completed, and close out all service activities upon completion according to company procedures.
  • Ensure that point-of-sale (POS) materials at customer locations remain current, clean, and properly displayed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co-workers, explaining issues, repairs, and any follow-up needs in an understandable way.
  • In some locations, move and relocate machines as needed, including installation and removal of equipment at customer sites.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned territory, including the entire state and designated regional corridors, with significant windshield time but no regular overnights.
  • Service equipment in a variety of environments such as movie theaters, gas stations, coffee shops, restaurants, hospitals, hotels, schools, retail stores, grocery stores, and other locations with beverage dispensers.
  • Report back to the service shop as needed, typically at the end of the day, to manage paperwork, parts restocking, and coordination with the service team.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support service operations and customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills
  • Mechanical experience with equipment, including the ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical components.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting equipment issues, including diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and basic refrigeration problems.
  • Field service experience working at customer sites, traveling between locations, and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic electrical and mechanical skills relevant to repair, installation, and maintenance of beverage and restaurant equipment.
  • Experience with repair and installation tasks, including use of hand tools and basic plumbing for equipment such as ice makers, dishwashers, or garbage disposals.
  • General mechanical ability and comfort working with moving parts, motors, pumps, and similar components.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds or more on a regular basis, with occasional lifting in excess of 70 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, including no DUIs and no more than two moving violations in the last three years, to operate a company van.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact clearly with customers and co‑workers.
