Material Handler – New Store – Bismarck
Primary purpose: receive, fill, and ship products accurately and efficiently. Ensure all products are readily available for orders and all paperwork is completed. May perform various warehouse functions such as receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping, packing, stock replenishment, will‑call, and inventory cycle counts.
Responsibilities- Operate power equipment (electric pallet jack, walkie rider, sit‑down forklift) safely and efficiently to move checked‑in products to correct storage locations.
- Receive product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
- Inspect freight for damage, verify quantities against packing lists, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Scan products, print labels, resolve labeling discrepancies, and ensure bar code labels meet Johnstone standards.
- Pick products and pack orders into cartons, minimizing damage and recording items with a scan gun.
- Label hazardous materials correctly and document required paperwork.
- Prepare orders for shipment: palletize, wrap, load pallets, attach packing lists, and complete paperwork.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards, following all SOPs.
- Participate in inventory cycle counts and related projects as assigned.
- Maintain a safe work environment: follow safety rules, maintain equipment, report concerns, wear protective gear, and consult MSDS when needed.
- Maintain required certifications (hazardous materials, forklift, etc.) and complete professional communications with customers and coworkers.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED; 0‑1 year of related experience or equivalent combination.
Preferred Experience: Picker, forklift, RF scanner operation, inventory management systems; HVAC wholesale knowledge; OSHA safety procedures.
Certifications: Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain on the job.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Basic math and unit conversions; manual handling of up to 50 lbs with or without mechanical aid; ability to follow instructions, prioritize work, attend to details, work in a team, complete routine paperwork, utilize RF equipment and ERP software;
English proficiency.
