Role Purpose

The role assists in administering medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. Administration follows nursing standards, facility policies, procedures, and state requirements.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • Certified Medication Aide with state‑approved training and examination.
Job Functions
  • Follow policies and procedures for medication administration.
  • Note and report medication errors.
  • Assist in developing and implementing procedures to prevent medication errors.
  • Perform administrative tasks, complete required forms, charts, and reports.
  • Maintain productive relationships with nursing staff, physicians, medical director and pharmacists.
  • Report resident complaints to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections.
  • Guard confidential information – do not disclose user , password, protected health information; report suspected breaches.
  • Report unauthorized system access attempts.
  • Report fraud incidents.
  • Ensure computer workstations logged off or screen‑saver activated as per policy.

  • Knowledge and skills to provide age‑appropriate resident care.
  • Team player, collaborates with others.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Interpersonal skills – tactful with personnel, residents, family, visitors, agencies, and public.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with others.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, able to handle difficult residents.
  • Capability to communicate resident condition information.
  • Provide certification documentation upon application.
  • Not pose a direct threat to health or safety of workplace.
