The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for providing high‑quality resident care in alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and regulatory requirements. This dual‑certified role ensures the safe and accurate assistance of medications under the direction of a nurse, while also providing direct, hands‑on support with activities of daily living to promote dignity, independence, and overall well‑being.
The CMA/CNA collaborates closely with nursing and caregiving teams to support a person‑centered care environment and to ensure residents attain or maintain the highest possible physical, mental, and emotional health.
- Assist with medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders and facility policy, completing and documenting assignments accurately and timely.
- Maintain resident rooms in a clean and orderly manner, including light housekeeping, changing linen, making beds, tidying bedside tables, salons, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Provide direct care and assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility, and feeding.
- Assist residents with basic personal care according to procedures and daily assignments, including bathing, dressing, dental hygiene, toilet activities, grooming, feeding, transportation/transfer, ambulation, and use of supportive devices with proper safety techniques.
- Attend and participate in facility meetings and in‑service training programs.
- Practice good infection control techniques in all aspects of resident care, preparing residents for meals, assisting with serving meals and feeding.
- Observe residents’ rights, including privacy and dignity.
- Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition, behavior, or functional status; safeguard residents’ privacy and property.
- Participate in the orientation of new or temporary staff to the unit to assure continuity in resident care delivery.
- Promote positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.
- Provide restorative care to residents as assigned by the Nurse or as indicated in the overall plan of care.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Give clear and concise direction to staff and others.
- Required Degree:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. - Preferred Certificate(s):
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and CPR, in accordance with State regulations. - Experience:
0‑1 Years.
- Communicate effectively with residents and healthcare professionals.
- Know various medications, their purposes, dosages, routes of administration, and potential side effects.
- Know privacy regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Document medication administration and patient responses accurately.
- Educate patients about their medications.
- Must be able to stand, sit, talk, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to operate various equipment based on department requirements.
- Must hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds, including machinery alarms and remote speech.
- Clarity of Vision:
- Near visual acuity at approximately 20 inches or less for small objects or reading small print, including use of computers.
- Far visual acuity at 20 feet or more for recognizing objects.
- Peripheral vision must support observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
$15.28 - $20.34 per hour
Reasonable Pay EstimateA reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $15.28 - $20.34 per hour. Factors influencing the final offered rate include qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and internal and external equity.
