Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Finn Lab at OMRF is looking for creative motivated applicants for a part time Research Technician position We study how the genome is organized in human cells in order to understand how those cells make decisions The technician would work closely with a graduate student mentor on a project focusing on how genome organization and histone modification collaborate to regulate genes in cancer cells As necessary we will train you on relevant techniques likely including but not limited to DNARNA Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization immunofluorescence confocal imaging and image processing You will carry out experiments independently after training and share in regular lab maintenance tasks You will present your work one on one and in small group sessions to the lab and we will identify and plan future experiments together
Minimum QualificationsBasic knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software Must be detail oriented and work independently as well as a team player
Preferred QualificationsProfessional lab experience with relevant techniques such as cell culture confocal microscopy and image processing will be greatly advantageous Scripting experience with R or Python strongly preferred
Work HoursThis is a part time position with flexible hours 10 15 hours per week
