Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
This position will be responsible for providing maintenance services to keep the facility buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair. In so doing, significant contributions are made to the safety, well‑being, and comfort of residents and employees.
Essential Responsibilities- Complete assigned work requests and preventative maintenance work orders as directed by supervisor, including but not limited to auto/small engine mechanics, carpentry, appliance repair, plumbing, electrical, emergency generators, low‑voltage applications, swimming pools, fire alarms, valves, fixtures, and locks in accordance with campus procedures and industry‑acceptable standards.
- Inspect facilities, systems, and components to ensure safety and cleanliness and to identify necessary repairs.
- Use a variety of hand tools and small power tools and maintain these tools/equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
- Perform general labor duties, including event set‑ups, deliveries, and moves.
- Troubleshoot building and equipment issues as they arise.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and expand trade knowledge of maintenance and facilities.
- Be available for on‑call schedule.
- Required Degree:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Certificates:
Valid Driver’s License and relevant field certifications - Experience:
1+ years
- Advanced knowledge of the operation of machinery, equipment, and systems within the field.
- Ability to diagnose and repair various equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to problem‑solve and work effectively in a team.
- Ability to adapt, prioritize, and communicate.
- Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office/community setting.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate various equipment based on department and weather conditions.
- Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
- Clarity of Vision:
- Near visual acuity: clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (e.g., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
- Far visual acuity: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more; recognizing features as well.
- Peripheral vision: observing an area that can be seen up/down or to the right/left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
Compensation Pay Range
$15.28 – $18.66 per hour
Reasonable Pay Estimate
A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $15.28 – $18.66 per hour. Factors considered include job‑related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and internal/external equity.
