Job Title: Locum Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team

Join Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services as an enthusiastic Social Worker specialising in children with disabilities. We’re looking for someone to work full-time, taking the lead in supporting our Looked After Children who have a disability, while also extending support to children undergoing assessments or being supported via a Child in Need plan, Child Protection plans, or Public Law Outline and legal proceedings.

What you will do:

  • Lead support for Looked After Children with disabilities, ensuring their needs are met with impactful plans and interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with parents and carers to ensure permanence plans are reviewed and effective.
  • Conduct life story work and assist with transitional planning to adult social care.
  • Participate in assessments and support children via Child in Need, Child Protection, and in legal proceedings.
  • Ensure children’s voices and perspectives are central to any decision-making process.
