Alternative Success Teacher

The Alternative Success Teacher provides personalized instruction, mentoring, and academic support to students enrolled in the Snake River Opportunities School (SROS) Alternative Program. This certified teaching position combines high-quality content instruction with relationship-based mentoring to help students overcome barriers, demonstrate mastery, and prepare for success beyond high school.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement for assigned grade level and/or content area.
  • Experience working with at-risk, alternative, virtual, or personalized learning environments preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of mastery-based learning and differentiated instruction.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Alternative Program teacher and mentor for one or more assigned Houses.
  • Build strong relationships with students identified as at risk academically, behaviorally, or through engagement data.
  • Develop individualized success plans and coordinate interventions with Student Success Coaches, counselors, social workers, mentors, families, and administrators.
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, academic progress, and graduation readiness.
  • Conduct regular mentoring meetings focused on goal setting, accountability, and removing barriers to success.
  • Teach assigned 68 or 612 core or elective courses using the SROS mastery learning model.
  • Provide targeted tutoring, intervention, and timely feedback to accelerate student learning.
  • Participate in MTSS, Student Support Team meetings, and House planning to identify and respond to student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, communicate regularly with families, and perform other duties as assigned.
