About The Job

The Loan Officer develops and manages a commercial and agricultural real estate loan portfolio for the branch office. This role is responsible for building new business, strengthening member relationships, and delivering exceptional service throughout the lending process. The Loan Officer manages the complete loan lifecycle—from origination and underwriting through closing and servicing—while exercising sound credit judgment and ensuring compliance with Association policies.

The position also monitors portfolio quality through effective credit administration and serves as a trusted financial partner by helping members identify financing solutions that support their agricultural operations and long-term success.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop new agricultural, commercial, and rural real estate lending relationships while growing and managing an existing loan portfolio throughout territory.
  • Build strong relationships with farmers, ranchers, rural landowners, and qualified ag businesses to identify lending opportunities and provide exceptional member service.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, balance sheets, and cash flow to evaluate borrower creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
  • Structure, originate, approve within delegated lending authority or recommend for approval, close, and service agricultural and rural real estate loans in accordance with Association policies and sound lending practices.
  • Manage a high-quality loan portfolio by monitoring credit quality, identifying potential risks, and ensuring compliance with credit administration standards.
  • Prepare credit analyses and loan recommendations that support sound lending decisions.
  • Assist borrowers with ongoing loan servicing needs, including renewals, extensions, additional advances, and other servicing actions.
  • Support collection efforts and work collaboratively with borrowers to maintain satisfactory loan performance.
  • Coordinate loan closings and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with Association requirements.
  • Represent Idaho AgCredit through active participation in agricultural organizations, industry events, and local community activities.
  • Stay current on agricultural markets, industry trends, and lending regulations to provide informed financial solutions to members.
  • Ensure compliance with Association technology, information security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Where You’ll Work

This position is based in our Blackfoot, Idaho office and requires regular travel throughout the Association's service area to meet with members and support business development activities.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, agricultural economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of experience in commercial, agricultural, or real estate lending, banking, or a related financial services field.
  • Knowledge of agricultural production, rural lending, and the financial needs of farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and credit underwriting.
  • Experience evaluating commercial, agricultural, or real estate loan requests and making sound credit recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of lending regulations, collateral evaluation, and credit administration practices.
