About the Position:
This Occupational Licenses Inspector position is a great opportunity for a professional who's looking to provide consumer protection and public safety for all Idahoans.
This position will conduct inspections of establishments and facilities licensed under the professional and occupational licensing acts administered by the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses. This position will also prepare reports regarding deficiencies found during inspections. This incumbent will be inspecting barber, cosmetology, funeral home and crematory businesses and will be working in and around Eastern Idaho and surrounding territories.
Daily and Overnight travel will be required .
Example of Duties:
- Inspectors conduct inspections of licensed establishments, facilities, and vocational institutions for compliance with federal and state safety and sanitation requirements. This includes planning inspections and conducting on-site inspections related to individual and establishment/facility licenses; evaluating procedures and processes and inspecting equipment and facilities for safety and sanitation requirements; use checklists to document violations; prepare basic reports regarding deficiencies found in non-passing inspections;
explain licensing laws and rules verbally and in writing to licensees; recommend acceptable safety and sanitation methods to ensure compliance with governing laws and rules. - Incumbents maintain detailed inspection records and may make presentations on licensing laws and procedures.
- Investigate complaints related to Barber and Cosmetology Services Licensing Board and the Board of Morticians.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
- Conducting on-site inspections and preparing reports relating to inspections.
- Interpreting, applying and explaining laws and regulations.
- Using basic office related computer programs.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently hold or have held a license issued by the Barber and Cosmetology Services Licensing Board.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, kneel, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Ability to move between work areas, including navigating stairs and outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform inspections in a variety of settings.
Work Schedule and travel Requirements:
- This position is based out of the Blackfoot office, with travel throughout assigned territories.
- Occasional night and weekend work
- Daily and overnight travel
