Asset Inventory Specialist

Position: Fixed Asset Inventory Specialist
Job Description

The Fixed Assets Inventory Specialist reports to the Assets and Inventory Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting with the timely completion of multiple department physical inventories of fixed assets to include planning, reconciling, and reporting; providing departments reports analyzing missing equipment and providing guidance for resolution; preparing fixed assets accounting adjusting journal entries and specialized reports; ensuring assets are properly recorded in the university's fixed asset system to support the audited financial statements and the Federal Facilities and Administrative Cost proposal;

during daily interaction with departments informally educating them regarding fixed assets best practices; provides backup support for related positions as needed; completes special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Familiarity with accounting practices| Ability to read, understand, and apply complex policies and procedures | Proficient utilizing various computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and databases| Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide customer service in a courteous manner and work effectively with diverse groups of people

Preferred Qualifications

Fiscal/administrative assistant/inventory specialist experience in a high volume business environment| Demonstrated data entry experience| Experience working with accounting principles| Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Finance systems such as Banner Finance; electronic procurement systems such Sci Quest/Hokie Mart| Demonstrated experience working with bar code scanning device technology| Knowledge of state or university accounting procedures.
