Job Description

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing practice at the Blacksburg, VA office. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a geology or other science-based degree or individuals interested in construction who enjoy hands‑on work. The position offers opportunities to learn, grow, and excel in a creative and flexible environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and sprayed‑on fireproofing
  • Reporting of test results and site observations
  • Soil and concrete laboratory testing
Required Skills/Experience
  • High school degree
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good oral, written, communication, and organizational skills
  • Able to perform rudimentary mathematical computations
  • Ability to lift 50–75 pounds occasionally and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders, and work outside
  • Construction experience is preferred but not required
Other Requirements
  • Ability to pass a background check, including criminal history and motor vehicle record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening

The compensation range for this role is between $16/hr and $22/hr compensation may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
