Job Description

We’re currently searching for an Advocacy Coordinator to join our Dean of Students and CARES Program team in Blacksburg, VA, to help us in our mission.

The CARES program strives to help heal members of the Virginia Tech student community of allies, survivors, victims, and others affected by sexual violence and harm through trauma‑informed supportive healing programming, including education, arts, mind/body, community building activities. We create a space that is inclusive regardless of identity; everyone is accepted and celebrated.
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, student affairs, or related field, or bachelor’s degree with significant related professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in providing counseling or advocacy services to college‑age adults.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of different student populations.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations and facilitate training workshops.
- Demonstrated experience in providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault, domestic and/or relationship violence, stalking and other forms of interpersonal violence.
- Experience providing counseling, advocacy, or support services in a higher education setting.

Salary Information$55,000 - $60,000
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with some evening and occasional weekend work
