Role OverviewThe Assistant Director for Testing Services will work with the Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) team in Blacksburg, VA, to manage and coordinate exam‑related accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Join the SSD team, a department focused on access and inclusion by determining reasonable accommodations in the living and learning environment.
- Report to the Director for SSD in a regular twelve‑month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
- Manage the operations of the SSD Testing Center.
- Ensure seamless delivery of exam‑related accommodations, collaborating with faculty and staff to meet accessibility and compliance requirements.
- Supervise testing staff, coordinate resources, and champion equitable access to academic assessments.
- Pursue professional growth through a developmental plan with opportunities for advancement within the department and division.
- Receive a base compensation package of $55,000–$65,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Base salary: $55,000 – $65,000 per year. Benefits include health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, and Virginia Tech discounts.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience supervising full‑time professionals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state disability rights laws (ADA, Section 504, etc.).
- Working knowledge of AHEAD standards and best practices for student disability services.
- Proficient in communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional experience working with students with disabilities in a higher education setting.
- Master’s degree and/or equivalent experience in disability services in higher education.
- Experience with universal design for learning (UDL) principles.
- Successful candidate must pass a criminal conviction check.
