Job Description
The Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) in the R.
B. Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track, Visiting Instructor to begin August 2026. This is a one‑year position, renewable based on funding, teaching undergraduate courses and participating in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Teach four 3‑credit hour courses per semester in areas such as introduction to hospitality careers, hospitality sales, meetings and conventions, and other department‑dependent courses.
- Support the strategic growth and visibility of the department’s academic programs and initiatives.
- Develop undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the department curriculum.
- Provide academic leadership and mentorship within the department.
- Contribute to service and governance at the departmental, college, and university level as needed.
- Hold in‑person classroom teaching sessions and office hours outside of classroom hours.
A baccalaureate degree in hospitality and tourism management or a related field is required, along with a demonstrated record or potential for teaching a broad range of topics in the HTM undergraduate curriculum. Ability to foster a collegial classroom and work environment is essential.
Preferred QualificationsExtensive experience and networks within the hospitality and tourism industry.
Payments and HoursSalary commensurate with experience. Faculty hours per week.
