We’re currently searching for an Associate Director for Services for Students with Disabilities to join our Services for Students with Disabilities team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re interested, please keep reading.
Role OverviewYou’ll be joining the Services for Students with Disabilities team; a department centered on access and inclusion by determining reasonable accommodations for students in the living and learning environment.
You’ll report to the Director in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. You’ll oversee the facilitation of testing accommodations through the interactive process.
You’ll supervise direct reports responsible for case management and the determination of testing-related accommodations. You’ll provide leadership, training, and development to ensure consistent, equitable, and legally compliant decisions.
You’ll lead the development and ongoing revision of testing center policies and procedures, including those related to accommodated testing. You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
Compensation & BenefitsBase compensation package between $75,000 - $85,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience supervising full-time professionals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws governing disability rights and accommodations (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Master’s degree and/or equivalent experience in disability services or testing services in higher education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of National College Testing Association (NCTA) Professional Standards and Guidelines.
- Working knowledge of Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) standards and best practices for student disability services.
- Experience with testing center operations, including software systems, policy development, and high‑stakes exam environments.
- Experience with data systems, case management tools, and assessment practices.
- Experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
Exempt:
Not eligible for overtime.
Appointment Type:
Regular.
Salary Information: $75,000 - $85,000.
Hours per week: 40.
