Job Description
The Department of Philosophy at Virginia Tech invites applications for an Instructor position to begin August 10, 2026. The area of specialization and area of concentration are open. Successful candidates will have a commitment to contributing positively to a supportive departmental community.
Responsibilities- Teach a 4–4 undergraduate course load.
- Teach general philosophy courses, including introductory and foundational offerings such as Knowledge and Reality, Critical Thinking, Morality and Justice, and Global Ethics.
- Participate in department and college service.
- A PhD in Philosophy or related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Experience mentoring students.
- Required to have a criminal conviction check.
Salary is commensurate with experience: $50,000 to $55,000.
