Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions for TTIP Professional Programs, the Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment – PGP & SW Region will lead recruitment initiatives, evaluate admission applications, and perform related duties in support of the Master of Engineering (MEng) programs in Computer Engineering (CPE) and Computer Science & Applications (CSA). This position requires independent decision‑making in the admissions process and close collaboration with university partners, including Marketing and Communications, the Graduate School, academic departments, and the Division of Enrollment Management, to implement innovative recruitment and admissions strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote accelerated MEng pathways within Virginia Tech and partner institutions.
  • Manage and advance the “Admissions Squared” early admission initiative.
  • Conduct recruitment outreach through classroom visits in targeted undergraduate courses to expand awareness of TTIP professional graduate programs.
  • Plan and execute yield activities and events for admitted students to support enrollment conversion.
  • Represent programs at regional and national graduate fairs, conferences, and recruitment events, particularly focusing on the southwestern region of the United States.
  • Host in‑person and virtual information sessions at Virginia Tech and partner institutions.
  • Expand domestic graduate recruitment efforts throughout the southwestern region.
  • Execute digital recruitment strategies through social media engagement, email campaigns, and virtual outreach.
  • Leverage CRM systems, including Slate, to create and manage queries, generate reports, execute communication campaigns, and track recruitment and admissions outcomes throughout the enrollment funnel.
  • Build relationships with alumni, industry partners, community organizations, and academic partners to enhance program visibility and recruitment outcomes.
Location & Travel

The position is based in Blacksburg, Virginia. Regular travel (approximately every six weeks) to Virginia Tech’s campus in Alexandria, Virginia, as well as regional travel throughout the southwestern United States, will be required. Recruitment activities may also require occasional evening and weekend work. One day of telework per week may be eligible.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree plus relevant experience in an academic setting, specifically in recruitment, admission, and STEM student success.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills.
  • Experience building data‑driven recruitment and admissions strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience reviewing academic records and providing admissions decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of project management experience.
  • Experience with student information systems, preferably Banner and Navigate.
  • Experience with enrollment management system.
  • Evidence of working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of graduate student recruitment and admissions.
  • Experience with territory management.
  • Experience providing student services to improve retention.
Salary & Hours

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000. Hours per week: 40. Overtime Status:
Exempt. Appointment Type:
Regular.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check. The position is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, and will work primarily in Blacksburg with frequent travel to Alexandria and around the Southwest area of Virginia.
